Kumano Kozu is a small, green citrus fruit characterized by its gentle aroma. It is a rare variety that was said to grow only in Kumanoe, Nobeoka. Mr. Awano, who wanted to "preserve something good in Kumanoe," increased the number of trees from about 10 to approximately 1000. A squeeze of Kumano Kozu adds a new dimension of flavor to Nobeoka's delicious meat, fish, vegetables, and sake. Of course, it's also delicious eaten on its own!
