Chanko Matsue

The restaurant's name comes from the owner's father, Matsueyama, who was active in the second-highest division of sumo wrestling around 1955. Currently, his son, Kotoeko, is active in the top division, making it a sumo family. He is also popular as a handsome sumo wrestler who resembles his mother. The restaurant is popular for its hearty dishes, including authentic chanko nabe (sumo wrestler's stew) with a rich broth, as well as chicken nanban, motsu nikomi (stewed offal), and local chicken.
